Victaulic has launched a first-of-its-kind grooved fire sprinkler system for exposed ceilings in warehouses and distribution centers.
The Forks Township-based manufacturer of mechanic pipe-joining systems created the FireLock IGS grooved sprinkler and associated coupling to replace threads on both outlets and sprinklers.

Unlike threaded sprinklers, the preassembled, one-bolt FireLock coupling and sprinkler requires no prep work on the ground or a wrench to be installed in the air. This saves time and makes proper installation easier.

“The storage, warehouse and distribution center market has undergone significant growth and transformation, creating a need for fire suppressions that are both easily installed and reconfigurable,” Daniel Wake, Victaulic product manager, said in a news release. “Working in the industry from the ground up for almost 20 years, this is the most exciting product development process I’ve been fortunate to take part in.””
